CATLETTSSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) – Marathon officials say their refinery in Catlettsburg lost power during Tuesday night's storm.
They say when power at the plant came back on, several flares flashed.
Crews have been working on get units back online.
Dan Ratliff was driving on U.S. 23 when he saw the sky light up. He says it appeared flames were shooting up a lot higher than usual from the stacks.
“We thought the thing was gonna blow,” he said. “It kind of scared us."
Officials say no one was injured.
