MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A teacher in Mingo County has been charged with sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.
Jennifer Parsons, 32, is accused of writing love notes, kissing and inappropriately touching a 13-year-old female student.
West Virginia State Police say the relationship between Parsons and the student began earlier this school year.
Parsons is a teacher at Matewan K-8 School and is a girl's soccer coach.
A parent who has a child in Parsons' class says these accusations are hard to believe.
“She tries to really get on the kids' level it seems like,” the parent said. “She jokes and laughs with them a lot. She's a really good teacher. It was really shocking. I would hate to think this is true."
Back in March, a custodian at the middle school, Justin Wellman was arrested, accused of having an online sexual relationship with another 13-year-old-girl.
Parsons is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on a 150-thousand-dollar bond.
