CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Neighbors near Edgewood and Summit Drive in Charleston are keeping a closer eye on their valuables after a string of car break-ins.

“They got my wallet,” John Rhodes said,” the thing of it is it's a big hassle because my wallet had my social security card, my license and all that.”

Charleston police tell WSAZ.com at least six unlocked cars have been broken into in the middle of the night within the last week.

Officers say the suspects got away with at least $2,000 worth of valuables in addition to credit and debit cards.

“It's pretty upsetting,” said neighbor Sean Richardson.

“It's a little unnerving because you feel violated because your things are taken and we work hard for our things,” neighbor Tiffany Moore said.

Moore’s family has been the victim of a previous break-in unrelated to this most recent string.

Police tell WSAZ.com a suspect has been identified, but warn neighbors that until an arrest is made to make sure doors are locked.
