Two Arrested Following Shooting in Salt Rock

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two men face criminal charges after West Virginia State Police say they shot at each other.

It happened about 12:15 a.m. Friday in the 6200 block of Madison Creek Road in Salt Rock.

State Police say when they got on scene, they found Scott Alan Vaughan, 42, with a gunshot wound in the left thigh.

Troopers also say there were three bullet holes in Vaughan's vehicle.

The suspect Justin Everett Smith was still on scene when troopers arrived. He was taken into custody.

Troopers say Smith admitted to shooting at Vaughan, and that Vaughan had shot at him first.

Troopers say Vaughan also admitted to shooting at Smith, but said Smith fired first.

Vaughan was treated and released from the hospital. He was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment.

Smith was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

According to the criminal complaint, the two men got into a domestic argument over Smith's ex-wife.
