UPDATE: Man Who Caused School Lockdown Sentenced to Prison

GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A Gallia County man who took off when deputies showed up to arrest him, leading to two schools being placed on lockdown, is headed to prison.

David McCormick, 40, was wanted on a probation violation for prior theft charge.

When Gallia County Sheriff's Deputies went to pick him up on April 29, McCormick ran from his home at Green Terrace Court Mobile Home Park. Green Elementary and Gallia Academy High School, which are near the park, were both put on lockdown.

McCormick was eventually caught a few days later.

According to court documents, Monday in court, McCormick pleaded guilty to violating his probation. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 17 months behind bars.

McCormick was granted time served for the 16 days he has been behind bars.

GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A suspect who took off when deputies showed up at his house, leading to two schools being put on lockdown, has been caught.

Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning tells WSAZ.com that David McCormick was taken into custody Thursday morning at the Green Terrace Mobile Court. He was picked up just after 10:15 a.m.

Monday, deputies went to serve a warrant on a probation violation and McCormick ran into the woods behind Green Elementary. That prompted Green Elementary and Gallia Academy High School to be put on a precautionary lockdown.

Sheriff Browning tells WSAZ.com along with McCormick's prior charges, he will now also face an obstructing charge.

GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Two schools were put on a precautionary lockdown today after a suspect ran from deputies.

The Gallia County Sheriff's Office tells WSAZ.com they were executing a warrant on David McCormick at the Green Terrace Court Mobile Home Park.

The mobile home park is right beside Green Elementary School and across the road from Gallia Academy High School.

Sheriff Joe Browning tells WSAZ.com that when McCormick saw deputies coming, he ran into the woods behind the elementary school.

The schools were put on a precautionary lockdown.

They believe McCormick caught a ride with someone in the area.

He is still on the run.

McCormick is wanted on a probation violation on a prior felony theft charge.
