Two Arrested Under Ohio's New Bath Salt Law

NEW BOSTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Two men have been arrested just hours after Ohio’s new law banning bath salts took effect.

New Boston Police arrested Stephen Osborne, 24, of New Boston, and Shane Signs, 37, of Norwalk, Ohio, at the Kmart in New Boston Monday night

On Monday, Ohio joined more than two dozen other states in banning the designer drug.

House Bill 64 makes the purchase, sale and possession of the drug illegal.

Police say the two men exhibited signs of being under the influence of some type of intoxicants.

They say Osborne was in possession of a plastic container that contained bath salts, and two hypodermic needles. Signs also told police he had bath salts in possession.

Both suspects admitted to abusing the bath salts by crushing them up and snorting them, as well injecting the bath salts into their bodies.

Osborne faces charges of Possession of Drugs (Bath Salts) and Possession of Drug Instruments.

Signs is charged with Possession of Drugs (Bath Salts).

Police say both men have prior arrests for possession and trafficking in drugs.
