PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Video on YouTube shows alleged workers at the Walmart in Pikeville, throwing iPads in the storage area and dropping them -- on purpose.
"How did they let this video get in other people's hands," says Michael Wilson of Lavalette. "That's just terrible."
The video, posted by “Anon Ymous” claims it was taken at the Walmart in Pikeville, Ky.
WSAZ.com's Bill Murray was notified of the video on Thursday evening.
He was told the video was on a used phone purchased by someone through Facebook's Yard Sale App.
Pikeville Police tell WSAZ the law enforcement agency contacted the store and was notified Walmart was handling an internal investigation.
In a press statement issued Friday, Walmart responded:
“We’ve seen the video of several nightshift associates destroying merchandise in the back of one of our stores in August and, as anyone can image, it made us wince. We are also embarrassed.
“The associates involved no longer work for Walmart.
“Since this unfortunate incident, we haven’t received any returns of this merchandise. We stand behind our merchandise and our associates work very hard to take proper care and handling of the products we put on our shelves.”
