MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University's athletic department reported a $4.2 million profit during the 2012-13 fiscal year.
The university said Friday that revenues were $77.7 million in its first season in the Big 12, compared with operating expenses of $73.5 million.
That compares to a record deficit of nearly $13 million in 2011-12, which included an exit fee the university paid to leave the Big East.
Contributions to the Mountaineer Athletic Club of $23.9 million were a record for the second straight year.
WVU athletic director Oliver Luck says he's "pleased and proud" of the athletic department.
