MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Beginning in 2014, West Virginia University will require students to have health insurance.
The new policy is among several changes WVU is making to its student health operation.
Another change will move student health care employees to University Health Associates, which will run student health.
University Health Associates is the clinical operation for the medical and dental schools.
Assistant vice president of student wellness Cathy Yura tells The Dominion Post that about 35 employees will be affected by the change.
The transfers will occur on Jan. 1.
WVU spokeswoman Becky Lofstead says the student health insurance requirement will be implemented by the fall of 2014.
Yura says about 85 percent of students have some form of health insurance.
