CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Human error is being blamed for incorrect winning numbers in a recent West Virginia Lottery Daily 3 drawing.

The correct numbers drawn Friday evening were 9-2-8. But lottery machines statewide briefly displayed and validated 1-2-3 as the winning numbers.

Lottery spokesman Randy Burnside tells the Associated Press that a manual entry error at GTECH, the Lottery's system vendor, caused the problem. He says the error was corrected within hours of the drawing and validations of the incorrect number combination were suspended.

He says anyone with questions regarding the issue should call Lottery headquarters at 304-558-0500, extension 250.
