GRAYSON, Ky. (WSAZ) – A man and woman charged in an incident where a man was seriously injured following what State Police say was an illegal drug transaction have been arraigned on drug trafficking and assault charges.
Jennifer, 41, and Claude Duncan, 45 both of Grayson, were arrested Friday night after Kentucky State Police called the pair fugitives from justice earlier in the day.
The couple was arraigned during a hearing Monday in Carter County Circuit Court.
Kentucky State Police say on February 15 they received a report of a two vehicle injury accident at the intersection of US 60 and KY 182 in Carter County. Troopers say during the course of the accident investigation they learned the collision was caused by the wanton actions of Jennifer Duncan.
Troopers say prior to the crash, the Duncan’s made arrangements with a Grayson man to complete an illegal pill transaction.
After completing the transaction, the man got into his car and left the area but was pursued by the Duncans in their vehicle.
State Police say at the intersection of US 60 and KY 182, Jennifer Duncan drove her vehicle into the man’s vehicle.
That man was seriously injured and was in the hospital for several weeks.
Troopers say the actions were done in an attempt to obtain the illegal drugs and money from the earlier illegal drug transaction.
A grand jury indicted the pair on March 21. Jennifer is charged with assault, while both are charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.
Both remain in the Carter County Detention Center.
Police say the Duncans were involved in an accident leaving the victim hospitalized for several weeks as well as planning drug transactions back in February.
Kentucky State Police say Jennifer, 41, and Claude Duncan, 45 both of Grayson, were a part of a car accident where the other driver suffered serious injuries. The accident happened Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the intersection of US 60 and KY 182 in Kentucky.
Officers say that before the accident, the Duncans had made plans to meet a Grayson man to traffic pills and several hundred dollars. After the man received the drugs, the Duncans then followed the man for several miles throughout Carter County.
At the intersection, police say Jennifer drove her car into the man's car. The driverwas seriously injured and hospitalized for several weeks.
A warrant for the arrest of the pair was issued March 21. Jennifer is wanted for Assault int he 1st Degree while both are wanted for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree.
