CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia American Water officials say they've corrected an issue that led to thousands of customers to be billed improperly.
Spokesperson Laura Jordan says about 11,000 customers statewide were taxed incorrectly for services.
The issue arose after the company switched to a new software program at the end of May, according to Jordan.
Jordan says it caused some customers to see an incorrect municipal tax added to their bill.
Officials say they've fixed the problem and that all customers who already paid their bills will see the money credited to their account.
They say if you have any questions, you can call West Virginia American Water at 800-685-8660 or 304-353-6300.
