CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A simple mistake Wednesday evening caused a major traffic tie-up in Charleston.
Police say a tractor-trailer was backing out of the parking lot at the Rent-A-Center along MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City about 6 p.m.
The truck hit a street lamp and knocked it over.
The street lamp blocked the westbound lanes for about an hour.
No one was hurt in the accident. Traffic is now back to normal.
According to dispatchers, a tractor trailer hit a street lamp along Maccorkle Avenue at the intersection of 57th Street.
The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Dispatchers say the street lamp is blocking both westbound lanes.
Drivers are asked to avoid that area if possible.
