ORIGINAL STORY 5/16/13
VINTON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A woman from McArthur, Ohio has been arrested and charged with raping and kidnapping a child.

The Ohio Attorney General's Office says on Thursday, a Vinton County Grand Jury indicted Cassandra Holsinger, 28, on three counts of rape, three counts sexual battery, three counts of gross imposition and three counts of kidnapping.

Attorney General DeWine says the victim is less than 13-years-old.

"The acts this woman is accused of committing are absolutely sickening," Attorney General DeWine said. "The suspect was in a position of trust with the child, but thankfully the juvenile was brave enough to tell someone what happened."

"We take this case very seriously, and we are pleased that the grand jury chose to indict," said Sheriff Shawn Justice. "Sexual assault cases involving female perpetrators happen, but they aren't always reported."

Agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit investigated the case in conjunction with the Vinton County Sheriff's Office.

"My office presented the facts yielded during the investigation and will continue to advance the prosecution to seek justice," said Prosecutor Trecia Kimes-Brown. "We believe that all victims, including the weakest and most vulnerable, deserve the fullest protections of our system."

Holsinger is now in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
