CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are searching for a suspect they say attacked, beat and robbed a woman in Kanawha City.
The alleged robbery happened Monday night in the 4100-block of MacCorkle Avenue Southeast.
The 22-year-old victim told police she was visiting a friend on Venable Avenue when she decided to walk to CVS Pharmacy on MacCorkle Avenue. The victim told officers on her way, she was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette. When she said she didn't have one, he attacked -- punching her in the right eye and knocking her to the ground.
Police say the victim was then struck repeatedly in the left arm before the robber grabbed her purse and took off running east through an alley. She was rushed to CAMC General for a laceration near her eye, swelling and bruising.
The suspect is described as a man with a dirty appearance in his mid to late 30s, standing 5' 8" tall, approximately 150 pounds, wearing a light green shirt, blue jeans and a white ball cap.
