HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman from Huntington has been arrested and charged with stealing more than $50,000 from her workplace.
Tuesday, Cabell County Sheriff‘s Deputies arrested Sarah Brook-Mayo, 39, on charges of embezzlement and obtaining property in return for a worthless check.
According to the criminal complaint, Brooks-Mayo stole $52,719.79 between November 23 and December 1. Her employer said she then tied to pay back the money by writing a check for the amount on a closed account to avoid prosecution.
Brooks-Mayo also faces a worthless check charge on an unrelated cased from from 2010.
