LEON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman has drowned trying to cross a rain swollen creek in front of her home.
Mason County Sheriff Greg Powers tells WSAZ.com that Jessica Harris, 50, of Beech Fork Road in Leon, West Virginia, was leaving her home about 9 p.m. Wednesday to go to work.
Powers said her car was parked across the creek from her home.
The Sheriff says Harris' daughter came home about a half hour later and realized her mother's car was still there.
Deputies, West Virginia State Police and the Leon Fire Department searched for Harris for six hours before finding her body about 100 yards away from her car.
Sheriff Powers tells WSAZ.com that no foul play is expected, but the case is still under investigation and they are waiting on autopsy results to be returned to confirm her cause of death.
