HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman from Wayne County is heading to prison after failing to update her sex offender registry.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says, Tammy Payton, 42, of Crum, W.Va., pleaded guilty in August to failing to register.
Back in 2001, Payton was found guilty in Lawrence County, Ohio of complicity to commit rape and kidnapping involving a child under the age of 13. That conviction required her to register as a sex offender.
Prosecutors say Payton admitted she moved from Ohio to Crum in 2007 and failed to update her sex offender registration.
Monday, during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Huntington, Payton was sentenced to one year in federal prison and 10 years probation.
