UPDATE: nTelos and Sprint Cellular Service Restored

UPDATE: 1/6/13 @ 10 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Service has been restored to hundreds of nTelos and Sprint customers who were unable to make or receive calls.

They say the outage only affected West Virginia customers. Especially those in or around Charleston and the Kanawha Valley.

It's still unclear what caused the outage.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A service outage is causing hundreds to be unable to make calls from their cellular phones.

Metro 911 tells WSAZ.com nTelos is having problems with calling in West Virginia. It's not known how many customers are affected right now.

Dispatchers say this outage also affects Sprint customers in Kanawha County since they use the nTelos towers.

Customers are still able to send text messages but can not receive or place calls, according to dispatchers.

No word on when service will be restored.
