HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- There has been another round of layoffs at Special Metals in Huntington.
Dwight Weber, a spokesperson for the parent company that owns Special Metals, tells WSAZ.com that 17 salaried employees were laid off at the Huntington plant on Wednesday.
On Monday, WSAZ.com reported that 30 hourly employees were laid off at the Huntington and Burnaugh, Ky. plants. 27 of the workers were in Huntington and 3 in Kentucky.
Weber says both rounds of layoffs this week are due to the sluggish economy.
He was not able to tell WSAZ.com if additional layoffs will be needed in the immediate future.
