HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Shoppers didn't slow down Saturday in Huntington, despite the weather.

In fact, one woman said the Huntington Mall crowds reminded her of Black Friday shopping.

"It's pretty crowded in there, the snow has not kept people away. We were hoping it would--because it would be easier for us--but, no, it's pretty crowded in there today," said Tina Suman of Russell, Kentucky.

It was a different story across the east coast, though. Nearly desolate stores greeted holiday shoppers brave enough to venture out in a monster snowstorm blanketing the East Coast.

The storm is blamed for thousands of traffic accidents and as many as five deaths. It's expected to drop more than 16 inches in parts of Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts as it moves north.
