HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Edgar Corum has spent 88 years in Huntington.

During the weekend, he experienced a first -- someone broke into his home.

"I think Huntington is changing," Corum said as he sat rocking on his front porch. "The younger generation has too much time on their hands."

The glass from Corum's front door is still shattered. Inside, drawers are open and safes are emptied.

According to a Huntington Police Department report, Corum was robbed of guns, knives, a watch and coins totally more than $5,000.

"They took anything on their hands that was worth anything," Corum said. "They ripped me off pretty good. Our kids are not being taught self discipline; they have no regard for anyone else's property."

He added, "I've lived in the East End all my life. I'm staying put. We need to work on seeing that our kids have a future, and breaking in is not a future."
