HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- As families and businesses struggle to clean-up the damage left behind by heavy rains, people from around the region are lending a helping hand.

The National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame organized a supply drive for the flood victims.

Water and cleaning supplies were collected in Huntington, Nitro, Charleston, Madison and Chapmanville.

Mike Dunlap is the president of the state's chapter of the group. He says they pride themselves on character and community involvement, so they had to find some way to help out.

"Any little bit helps. People are in desperate need," said Dunlap. "If we can help one family, or two families, or a hundred families we certainly want to do all we can."

The group collected all of the items Saturday and dropped them off in Logan.
