HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A crash on 16th Street Road (Route 10) in Cabell County is causing major traffic problems.

Cabell County Deputies say that a vehicle hit a utility pole about 6 a.m. Monday. The pickup truck ended up on its top off the road in a yard.

The crash knocked down the lines, which means 16th Street Road between Norwood Road and James Kilowatt Road will be shut down for most of the day.

Traffic is being detoured onto Norwood Road for drivers heading north into Huntington. Drivers heading south need to take an alternate route.

The driver told deputies that he lost control trying to avoid a deer. He was not hurt.

The wreck also knocked out power to Hite-Saunders Elementary which is now closed for the day.
