UPDATE: All Stores Open at Huntington Mall Following Early Morning Fire

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) – All stores at the Huntington Mall opened on time Friday morning following a minor fire earlier in the day, according to a spokesperson for the mall.

The Barboursville Assistant Fire Chief, Mike Bowyer tells WSAZ.com the fire started in the ceiling near Talbots and Ruby Tuesdays. It happened when a construction worker was using a welding torch and caught some insulation on fire.

Workers at the scene were actually able to get the fire under control. The fire was reported at 4:45 a.m.

Bowyer says one worker suffered smoke inhalation and taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Fire crews used fans to pull smoke out the building.

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Fire crews are on the scene of a fire at the Huntington Mall.

Cabell County 911 dispatchers say the fire is out, but police report heavy smoke throughout the mall.

Right now fire crews are checking stores for damage and to make sure the fire has not spread.

Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the fire was reported by workers inside the mall about 4:45 this morning.

It was reported in the area of Ruby Tuesday's.

No word yet on what businesses were impacted.
