BOYD COUNTY, Kentucky (WSAZ) -- The Boyd County Sheriff's Office tells WSAZ.com five people have arrested following a drug bust in which one suspect fired a gun at deputies.
The bust happened at a home in the 8600 block of State Route 5 about 11:30 Wednesday night.
Deputies say Howard Rutherford, 49, of Boyd County, came outside the home with a gun in his hand. They say they instructed him several times to to put down the weapon, but instead he started firing at them. No one was hit by the bullets. Eventually, Rutherford did put the weapon down and he was arrested.
Rutherford has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and trafficking of a controlled substance.
When they searched the home, deputies found pills and cash.
Also arrested on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance were Mickie Rutherford, 44, of Boyd County, and Lennon McGee, Jr., Jevon Thomas, and Ruth Roberson, all of Detroit, Michigan.
All five people were taken to the Boyd County Detention Center.
The search warrant was obtained after a drug buy at the residence earlier Wednesday.

Deputies were executing a warrant for trafficking in a controlled substance, when the suspect began firing.
Two men from Detroit, Michigan and a woman were inside the home with the suspect.
Deputies were able to talk the suspect down. He eventually surrendered and no one was hurt.
The suspect will be charged with four counts of attempted murder in addition to the charge of trafficking in a controlled substance.
Inside the home, deputies say they found a large quantity of cash and pills.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
