CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Cabell County school buses will be getting a new home soon.
On Tuesday, the school board approved a contract to build a bus garage across from Cox Landing Elementary school in Lesage. Currently, buses are parked in Barboursville.
The new $3 million project will house nearly 100 buses. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring.
"We have almost 150 employees working at the bus garage,” Cabell County Schools Superintendent William Smith said. “They need to have a decent place to work and also a decent place to keep the buses and to manage the buses and to clean them and the whole bit. So it's very important to maintain a good place for your fleet."
As with any plan, not everyone is happy about it. Folks who live in the Lesage area wouldn't go on camera but told us they’re upset about potential noise, traffic and pollution from a new bus garage.
