UPDATE: Driver Crashes into Bank in Barboursville, Charged with Destruction of Property

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been charged with felony destruction of property after crashing into a bank in Barboursville, according to the Cabell County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Mount, 69, of Lesage, crashed into City National Bank along Route 60 about 11 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies say Mount told them he hit the gas too hard, hit the bank, then backed up over a curb. He then hit a sign and went into another lot and hit a bush, before eventually stopping in a parking spot.

Mount is being arraigned on the charge in magistrate court.

The crash damaged the lobby of the bank. The lobby will remain closed until crews clear the scene. The drive-thru is still open.

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A driver crashed into City National Bank in Barboursville Thursday morning, causing the bank to temporarily close.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. at the branch along U.S. 60.

Police are questioning the driver to find out what caused the crash.

A person was taken into custody at the scene. No word if it was the driver of the car.

The accident destroyed the only customer entrance to the bank.

Employees safely evacuated the building using a rear exit at the building.
