HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Christmas tree drop-off locations have been announced for Huntington and Charleston.
Residents in Huntington can drop off live Christmas trees at Harris Riverfront Park (east end of 11th Street parking lot), St. Cloud Commons, Altizer Park and the old Olympic Pool site on the west end of Ritter Park.
In Charleston, residents can place their trees out on the curd and the trees will be picked up by the Public Works department.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and the Division of Natural Resources are collecting trees at the Capitol Market. You can drop off trees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5.
The DNR takes all of the trees and places them in lakes across W.Va. to improve fish habitat. Last year they collected close to 500 trees.
