HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A lab confirmed case of whooping cough has been documented in Cabell County, according to a news release issued late Friday by the Cabell-Huntington Health Department.
Anyone who may have been exposed to that person will be notified by health officials to take precautionary steps, the release states. The health department will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Other details were not released.
Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, tends to cause violent coughing and is considered to be highly contagious.
