HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Marshall University Head Football Coach Doc Holliday announced Monday that Donald Brown has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

No other information was released by the athletic department.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court, Huntington Police charged Brown with misdemeanor domestic battery on Sunday. The complaint says the incident involved his wife and and their 11-month-old daughter.

Brown was projected to be a starting safety for the team this fall.

He was a junior from Frostproof, Florida.

Brown is being held in the Western Regional Jail.
