HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Giving cancer the boot was the goal at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Sunday.
Sunday is national cancer survivors day and the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center hosted a western themed party to celebrate.
People of all ages were there. Everything from the food to the games made survivors feel like they were out on the range.
There are currently more than 14.5 million survivors in the United States, and organizers wanted to make sure survivors from the cancer center feel special.
"This is one way we can celebrate the living and let them know even though their treatment's over we care about them. This is their day," Gigi Gerlach with the Edwards Cancer Center said.
This is the 27th annual national cancer survivors day, which is typically celebrated the first Sunday of June.
