HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A new skateboard park is coming to Huntington.

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., announced federal funding for the park as part of the redevelopment of Harris Riverfront Park.

The $50,000 grant -- awarded by the National Park Service Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which is a partnership program that provides matching funds for the development of outdoor recreation sites and facilities -- will provide skateboard enthusiasts with a safe place to practice away from busy pedestrian streets.

The city and Greater Huntington Parks and Recreation District will use the money to integrate elements of a "street" skateboard park in the newly greened landscape of Harris Riverfront Park.
