HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Firefighters hit the streets of Huntington Thursday morning, but instead of wearing their fire boots they were holding them.
Members of the Huntington Fire Department were collecting for their annual MDA Boot Drive.
Crews were at several locations on 5th and 3rd Avenues asking motorists to give to a good cause.
“We get a lot of guys coming in off duty that just want to help the community anyway they can," said Ray Canafax with the Huntington Fire Department.
Crews at all six stations in the city are doing 90 minute shifts throughout the day.
The MDA Show of Strength, formerly the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, will air Sunday night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
