HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Huntington Police say they arrested five people Tuesday in connection with a raid on an apartment in 1100 block of Rear 21st Street.
They say the arrests are the result of an investigation that began after the department’s tip line received numerous calls about drug activity at the residence. Police then began surveillance of the apartment.
According to a press release, on Tuesday an officer stopped a vehicle that frequented the apartment and had been reported stolen in Alabama.
The driver, Gage S. Duncan, 19, of Tampa, Fla., was arrested for transferring and receiving stolen property. The passenger, Anthony J. Gaston, 23, of Detroit, was arrested for transferring and receiving stolen property, forgery of a public document and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and obstructing.
Police say Gaston was also wanted in Detroit for drug trafficking charges.
Officers say they recovered a small amount of marijuana and heroin from the vehicle.
Police say information obtained from that traffic stop allowed the Special Emphasis Unit detectives to obtain a search warrant at the apartment. Inside the apartment officers say they found distribution amounts of marijuana as well as guns, scales and materials used for packaging marijuana for sale.
Arthur Canada of Huntington was arrested at the department along with another man and woman.
Canada was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The other man and a woman were arrested on misdemeanor drug charges.
Police say landlord will be mailed a nuisance letter for corrective action
