UPDATE: Flames Break Out in Basement of Home in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- No word on what started a fire in the basement of a house in Huntington Sunday.

Fire crews were called to the house in the 3600-block of Norwood Road just before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Dispatchers say a man called 911 and said flames were shooting from his basement.

That's what fire crews saw as they arrived.

The man and his dog were able to get out safely.

Norwood Road was shut down for a time, but has since reopened.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Fire crews are on the scene of a large basement fire at a home in Huntington.

Dispatchers say the flames broke out just before 7 p.m. Sunday in the 3600-block of Norwood Road.

A man called Cabell 911 and said flames were shooting from his basement.

When fire crews arrived, smoke and flames could be seen. Norwood Road is now closed to all traffic while crews try to battle the fire.

Everyone was able to get out of the burning home safely. Dispatchers say no other homes are in danger.
