UPDATE: Dog Dies in Fire, Woman Makes it Out Safe

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A family pet died in a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Barboursville.

Cabell 911 Dispatchers says the fire started about 12:30 p.m. on Francis Court in the Williamsburg Colony subdivision.

Captain Andrew Frazier with the Barboursville VFD tells WSAZ.com that the woman who lived in the home was able to get out, but her dog died in the fire.

Crews from the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department, Ona Volunteer Fire Department and Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department were all on scene.

Captain Frazier says the extra crews were called in to help protect the homes on both sides of the home that caught fire. They were able to contain the fire before it spread.

No word on how the fire started, but there is extensive damage.

At this time, firefighters don’t know if there were working smoke detectors in the house.

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Crews are fighting a fire at a home on Francis Court in Barboursville.

911 Dispatchers say the fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. They say they received numerous calls on the fire.

Several fire departments are on the scene.

According to Cabell 911, the Barboursville Fire Chief confirms that the home was fully-involved when he got on scene and there were exposures on both sides.

Crews believe they have the fire under control.
