Hotels Prepare for Wide Spread Power Outages

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Winter storm warnings throughout the region pose the threat of wide spread power outages, and hotels are preparing to accommodate you, so that you're not left out in the cold.

Housekeepers are making sure they've got as many clean rooms available as possible.

Hotel managers say any time there are power outages, they see a mad dash to make reservations.

They become fully booked very quickly with the combination of bad road conditions and no electricity.

Their main priority Sunday is to make sure rooms are clean and ready, and that they have enough staff to keep up with the crowds.

"With the restaurant we have to bring staff in; let them stay the night so we know we'll have food ready in the morning for everybody. I'll let the housekeeping staff have a couple rooms, so that we have people in place just in case," said Pullman Plaza General Manager Anna Pope.

Hotel managers say calls for reservations began Sunday morning, and they expect to become fully booked.
