HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police will add an armored vehicle to the fleet.
City Council on Monday accepted a more than $250,000 grant for the Bearcat.
It will be used to help serve warrants in situations that may turn violent or during hostage situations.
HPD Chief Skip Holbrook said it is a great investment for the city.
"This gives us the ability to pull right up to the front door if necessary and compel somebody to surrender," Holbrook said.
He said the Bearcat also will be used as a regional response vehicle, meaning it can be used in situations throughout the region -- if needed.
