UPDATE: Fire Damages Home in West Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The downstairs portion of a home in west Huntington was heavily damaged in a fire Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 600 block of West 23rd Street about 7 p.m.

Huntington firefighters say the blaze started in a downstairs room about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The rest of the home sustained some smoke damage.

Three people were home when the fire started and got out safely.

Huntington firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.

The cause of the fire was unknown Tuesday night.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Firefighters are on the scene Tuesday night of a house fire in West Huntington, Cabell County 911 dispatchers say.

It is in the 600 block of West 23rd Street in the vicinity of Jefferson Avenue and West 5th Avenue.

The home's occupants managed to make it out safely. The house was engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived.

The fire was reported just after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
