Huntington Men Try to Steal Toys for "Toys for Tots"

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Toys meant to bring joy to less fortunate kids on Christmas wound up in the hands of two men, who are now facing charges.

According to the criminal complaints, police responded to St. Joseph Elementary school in Huntington about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

When police arrived at the school they found Michael Garrett, 47, and Aaron Porter, 45, both of Huntington, inside the school.

Porter and Garrett are both being charged with entry of a building other than a dweling.

According to the criminal complaint, both men were trying to steal several toys donated for Toys for Tots. Garrett had also taken several school supplies.

Bond for Porter and Garrett was set a $25,000.

If convicted, the pair could face up to 10 years in prison.
