HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington City Council unanimously approved three different resolutions Monday night to help city leaders closely monitor financial matters.
Everyone on council agrees that financial issues continue to bog down the city.
As part of a possible solution, Mayor Kim Wolfe will hire consultants to scour the budget and everything that goes into it -- or doesn't go into it.
The consultants will analyze the overall operations of the city, evaluate and prioritize capital improvement needs and also evaluate the police and fire pension fund.
After the consulting contracts go out for bid, council estimates it will take about 18 months for the consultants to finish their work.
Huntington firefighters joined in support of the study.
