UPDATE 6/27/11
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Marshall University running back Tron Martinez was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing following an incident at a residence in Huntington Friday afternoon.
According to the criminal complaint, Huntington Police were called to an apartment in the 2000-block of Buffington Avenue concerning a possible domestic incident.
Police say after they arrived on the scene, Martinez refused to follow their directions to calm down and have a seat away from the other involved party. They also say he was loud, boisterous and used profanities. The complaint also says that as officers attempted to secure Martinez he repeatedly pulled away from them.
Both charges are misdemeanors.
Martinez was taken to the Western Regional Jail and later released on bond.
As of late Friday, few other details were available.
Sources tell WSAZ.com’s Keith Morehouse that Martinez was released on his own recognizance after being charged and that he was not taken to the Western Regional Jail.
Martinez started several games last season for the Herd and was the team's third leading rusher.
