UPDATE: Man Attempts to Rob Huntington Pharmacy

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Huntington is being charged with robbery after trying to steal pills from a Huntington pharmacy.

Police say Brandon Skaggs, 26, is being charged with 1st degree robbery and obstructing following the incident at CVS Pharmacy on Washington Avenue.

Police were called to store about 5:20 Tuesday night concerning a man inside the store armed with box cutter and demanding pills.

According to the police report, officers arrived at the store to find Skaggs behind the pharmacy counter with a knife in his hand. Officers said instead of following their orders to drop the knife, Skaggs continued taking pill bottles from the shelf. At that point, one of the officers knocked Skaggs to the ground. He and the other officers were then able to take the knife away from Skaggs, according to the report.

Skaggs with then taken into custody and taken to a local hospital.

A store employee told WSAZ.com that an employee managed to lock the suspect inside the store until police arrived and arrested him.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man armed with a box cutter has been arrested after trying to rob a Huntington pharmacy Tuesday night.

Police were called to the CVS Pharmacy on Washington Avenue about 5:15 p.m.

The man was reportedly demanding pills.

A store employee told WSAZ.com that an employee managed to lock the man inside the store until police arrived and arrested him.

No other information has been released at this time.
