Man Causes Accident while Driving Himself to Hospital

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- In a hurry to drive himself to the hospital one man caused an accident that gave him an ambulance ride to the hospital.

The accident happened at Washington Blvd. and Rt. 60 when the driver of a Chevy AVEO had a gash in his arm and was trying to get to the hospital, according to Huntington police.

In his rush, the driver passed several cars in the turn lane, swerved around them and ran a red light hitting an SUV. When the car hit the SUV -- it flipped the SUV on its side.

The driver of the AVEO had to be transported to the hospital but his girlfriend who was in the passenger seat was not hurt.

The driver of the SUV said although she was shaken up she was not injured.
