HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at the Heiner's Thrift Store in Huntington.
It happened at thes tore in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Huntington Police say they arrested Brandon Mitchell Lewis, 20, of Huntington less than an hour after the incident.
A store employee told police that Lewis entered store acting like he was going to make a purchase. After putting a cake on the counter, the clerk told police he pulled out a knife, and demanded cash. The criminal complaint says after the clerk fled to the back of the store, Lewis tried unsuccessfully to open the register and fled the store.
He was charged with 1st degree robbery and taken to the Western Regional Jail.
It happened about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the store on Washington Avenue.
911 dispatchers say a man walked in, pulled out a knife and demanded cash.
They say the suspect did manage to get away.
