Marshall University Aiming to Boost International Enrollment

Posted: Thu 10:44 AM, Nov 15, 2012

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Students and staff at Marshall University gathered for a groundbreaking Thursday morning.

This wasn't a groundbreaking on a building, but rather on the future. Marshall entered into an agreement with "INTO," which is a global educational partner that helps universities with their international student recruiting.

The goal is to increase Marshall's international student population from 3 percent to 10 percent of the student population.

All the great universities are becoming international universities and Marshall is one of those according to Clark Egnor, Marshall University International Programs. Clark says its important for Marshall's West Virginia students to study at a school that is internationalized

"They're going to be going out into a world where they will work at companies that have an international presence so they need to learn to work with people from all over the world," Clark said.

The 60-member INTO recruitment team will spend the day getting to know Marshall and the area so they can meet the needs of international students considering Marshall for their education.
