HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall University is reducing tuition rates for some high school students taking online college courses this summer.

Marshall officials say up to 30 students will pay $25 per credit hour instead of the regular online fee, which will be $134 per credit hour this fall.

Marshall is offering nearly 50 courses in the high school program this summer.

Among them are math, history, geography, journalism, economics and music.

Class materials are included with each course.

Students earn the same college credit they would in on-campus classes.

Marshall Technology Outreach Center assistant Tyler Sharp says some students can get up to their first year of college completed while they're still in high school.

Interested students must submit applications and meet certain qualifications, including a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.
