HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Marshall starting quarterback A.J. Graham will have surgery to repair his injured right shoulder. Sources tell WSAZ Sports Director Keith Morehouse Graham will miss the final two games of the season.

Freshman Rakeem Cato started the first six games for the Thundering Herd and replaced Graham at Tulsa following a hard hit that knocked the sophomore signal caller out of the game. Marshall lost to Tulsa 59-17 and Cato completed 16 of 26 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown.

Marshall is 2-4 in Cato's six starts. He will remain the starter for the rest of the year which consists of two must win games against Memphis and East Carolina for Marshall (4-6) to reach bowl eligibility.

Sources tell WSAZ.com the quarterback depth chart has further been complicated by the departure of sophomore Eddie Sullivan. Sullivan made six appearances for Marshall as a freshman, completing six passes for 134 yards and a touchdown. Sullivan was listed as the third quarterback on the depth chart, behind Cato, which leaves Marshall with only one other option at quarterback.

Freshman Blake Frohnapfel is a 6-5, 210 pound freshman from Stafford, Va. and the twin brother of Marshall tight end Eric Frohnapfel. Blake has not appeared in a game this season and is on track to receive a redshirt.

Marshall kicks off against Memphis (2-8) at 8 PM Thursday Night in the Liberty Bowl. The game will be televised on WSAZ.
