CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- More than 1,700 people are without power Wednesday night in Cabell County, according to AEP’s website.
A power line is down in the 2800 block of 8th Avenue in Huntington, Cabell County 911 dispatchers say.
As of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, 1,703 customers were without power throughout Cabell County. At that time, temperatures in Huntington were still in the mid- to upper 80s. Wednesday marked the first official day of summer.
AEP crews at the scene tell WSAZ.com that the electrical demand from air conditioning and other uses simply overloaded the system in that area.
Crews said they expect to have power restored by about midnight.
